When Will I Finally Have Muscles 23

Interdisciplinary Dance Performance | 2022

A physical and conceptual duet inspired by Luce Irigaray’s This Sex Which Is Not One, examining how femininity is shaped, defined, and embodied.
The performance unfolds through three strategies:
– Repetition of internalized gender stereotypes to expose their underlying logic.
– The search for a new language that emerges from within the female experience.
– Revisiting the mother-daughter bond as a foundation for a new female subjectivity.
The stage is marked with signs carrying words like “Slim,” “Creamy,” “What’s your weight?”, and “Outer appearance is…” — confronting the audience with the persistent gaze and language that shape the female body in culture.

The piece moves between irony, vulnerability, and resistance — echoing Irigaray’s call:
"Be what you are becoming without clinging to what you might have been; what you might yet be."
The piece premiered as part of the “Panorama” event in collaboration with the Magid Center and was later performed in a public space during ArtTour Festival 3 (May 2023, Tel Aviv), as well as for dance students in schools.
